Grape variety: Shiraz

Winemaking notes: The fruit for the 2009 Shiraz was sourced from Frankland River. Cool fermentation was followed by two weeks on skins to allow for better tannin integration. Maturation was 12 months in new and older French and American oak. The wine was then egg white fined and bottled in June 2010.

Alcohol content: 14.0%

Tasting notes: This years shiraz shows fruit flavours in the plum, cherry, liquorice and spice spectrum. The 2009 Flametree Shiraz is riper than last years 2008 version. This wine is wonderfully fragrant with a bouquet of plum, cherry and spicy blueberry. A generous, fruit driven palate of berries and liquorice follows soft velvety tannins.

Cellaring: Up to 8 years.

Bright crimson; an expressive bouquet of cherry, plum, spice and oak leads into a classy medium-bodied palate, the fruit of the bouquet in full display supported by soft fruit and oak tannins.
